I didn't know whether i should subscribe or not because I heard a lot of mixed reviews. But I went for it in the end, probably because I am very nervous about this exam. Anyhow, here is an honest review.a lot of people know me around the forums, so you know I am not lying.I will say the positive and negative things.and maybe it would help someone to decide whether this works for them or not.
Good things about CSE videos: 1) It is nice to be able to see an encounter in full. Get an idea of how to manage the time and of how the room is set up. 2) The doctor has good, professional behavior with the patient.
She is polite, courteous and helpful. 3) There are some cases that are not from FA.things like menopause and eye pain for example, so thats good because it gives you an idea about some new situations. 4) Follows most of FA cases, so its nice to see the FA cases you practiced come to life. Things I didn't like: 1) Physical exam is very very poorly done. Some things are done flat out incorrectly. Examination is very blotchy, it doesn't flow smoothly. She can make the patient lie down, sit up then lie down again.not good at all.
There is a huge difference between it and the correct techniques given in UWorld. Yes, UW examination is time consuming, but it shows you the correct technique at least. 2) Some important points in the history are missed.

Yes, the doctor follows the same pattern of data gathering through her cases. But in some cases vital things are not asked about.
For eg, in a patient with suspected MI, the Dr doesnt even ask about Family history of heart attacks or heart disease. 3) Closure is poorly done. She never takes consent for pelvic or rectal exams. 4) Patient notes provided with the cases are not so good.
DDx and Diagnostic workup are nowhere as good as those in FA. So overall, there are some good things about it, and some bad things. I have tried FA, UW and CSE videos. FA is truly the BEST.it's perfect and very very accurate.
If you are lucky to have a live partner to practice with, then I think FA is great. I am not too happy that I spent 100 dollars for a 2 week subscription of videos that are not very well made. The idea of making the FA cases come to life is very very good. However more effort should be spent making a better job of these videos. There are a lot of improvements and corrections that should be made. And for 100 dollars, i really expected much more than what I got.
